Guy Atchley joined KGUN 9 On Your Side as anchor in 1984. During the last 22 years he has received dozens of awards for his reporting, including a sweep of the Associated Press Awards for Best Serious Feature, Best Light Feature and Best General Reporting in the State. The Ad Federation of Tucson presented Guy with the 2007 Golden Mic Award for his reporting and community service. Guy's community service takes the form of lectures to various groups and schools about The Power of One -- how every person can make a difference. Guy's work to expose intolerance and bigotry led to his receiving the Human Relations Award presented by the Jewish Community Relations Council. Every year Guy hosts the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon. He also authored a book called "Now For The Good News," a compilation of positive news stories and profiles of people who overcame tremendous obstacles to reach success and help others. Jerry Lewis writes: "Guy Atchley's 'good news' stories reflect the devotion to his community, and to the human community. That makes him a great newsman and a close ally of mine."

Guy Atchley has interviewed many famous people, but it's the not-so-famous--the unsung heroes of America--that Guy loves to focus on. Comedian Dean Steeves says: "In a culture where 15 minutes of fame has become just that, Guy Atchley seeks out and retells the small, quiet stories behind the lives of real and honorable people." University of Arizona Basketball Coach Lute Olson says: "I applaud Guy Atchley for focusing on what is good in our world." And author Amy Weintraub says of Guy: "Journalistic integrity, insight and compassion underlie the heartwarming journey of his life."

To keep his life in balance, Guy Atchley is a certified yoga instructor. He teaches classes three times a week at Yoga Oasis East in Tucson and conducts yoga workshops at Holy Trinity Monastery in St. David, Arizona. You may have seen Guy's cameos in several movies including: "Jericho Fever," which was produced for the USA Cable Network, the remake of "Vanishing Point" for Fox TV, and the independent film "Runnin' at Midnite."

And in case you're wondering, Guy played the role of a reporter in each film. Guy Atchley is originally from Oklahoma. He graduated from the University of Tulsa in 1972 and remains a devoted fan of the Oklahoma Sooners football team.

Guy Atchley draws his inspiration from his late sister Earlene who remains the guiding light for his life. Earlene died in 1992 from complications stemming from polio, which had left her with extreme disabilities. Despite all the pain she endured, Earlene never wavered in her zest for life. In Guy's words, she proved you can be greater than anything that can happen to you -- and that is The Power of One.
