Carlos Conejo is President of Peak Performance Seminars, Training & Consulting. A Thousand Oaks-based leadership and process improvement consulting firm. He is also a highly sought after leadership and management consultant specializing in Lean and Six-Sigma methodology. He earned his Six-Sigma Certification from Villanova University in 2007. Six Sigma is a disciplined, data-driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects in any process -- from manufacturing to transactional and from product to service. The ultimate goal is to use statistical process improvements to better serve the critical needs of the Customer, lower costs and improve quality. Conejo has been a lean practitioner for 13 years and has implemented and project managed multi-million process improvement projects. Successful Lean/Six Sigma projects include: Oakley Products- 15-week program generated $5 million in new improvements and 25% increase in quality using Lean Six Sigma., MagnaTek Power- Reduced set-up time on Surface Mount Technology (SMT) machines by 52%, generating an additional $12 million in added capacity., Neutrogena- This two-year project for all three shifts yielded tremendous transformation and awareness of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) leading to Autonomous Maintenance. Six projects garner approximately $3 million in improvements., Medtronics MiniMed- Trained 250 participants on basic and intermediate Lean over 15 weeks and implements 8-10 Lean improvement projects that garnered approximately $5 million in improvements., West Coast Magnetics- Office Kaizen, Taking a four-Day Sales Order Process and reengineering it down to four-hours! Conejo started his career as a product manager and Sales manager for the managed healthcare industry. Where he became well-known for his abilities in business turn-around. One division was $35 million in the red when Conejo took the helm and he turned it around to $40 million in the black in 18 months. He turned a small department of 10 employees into a lean- mean-marketing-machine that brought in over 8,000 new subscribers in 1995 taking the department from $50 million to $420 million in revenues! Conejo is the author of “Motivating Hispanic Employees: A Practical Guide to Understanding and Motivating Hispanic Employees” written for the non-Hispanic leader or manager in order to help with better understanding of the fine nuances of the Hispanic culture, approach to teamwork and other workplace issues. His second book, “Recruiting and Retaining Multicultural Employees” is geared toward assisting Human Resources professionals more effectively deal with the exploding populations in America. Currently over 55% of the national workforce is of another ethnicity or culture. His third book, “The Crabs of Santo Domingo: The Power of Working Together” is a powerful little book that teaches teamwork and consensus. Conejo writes numerous other articles appearing in various national magazines and trade journals. He has been featured on KNBC-TV, KTLA-TV, and numerous other national television and radio shows.
