Fawn Germer brings to life the wisdom and mentoring advice from her personal interviews with more than 300 famous women leaders for her bestselling books — one of which was an Oprah pick. Fawn has distilled insights from interviews with everyone from Hillary Clinton to Susan Sarandon, Jane Goodall, Meg Whitman, Nobel Peace Prize winners, Olympic athletes, Academy Award winners, CEOs, senior executives and many, many others. She contends that there is no special “success DNA” and all of us can achieve beyond our perceived limits if we set aside our self-esteem issues and tone down the negativity so we can dare to lead.
Fawn is a four-time Pulitzer nominated journalist who wrote for The Miami Herald, The Washington Post and U.S. News and World Report. As a journalist, her work changed many laws, resulted in the ouster of several high-profile politicians and put a man in prison for life. She began reporting for a small town paper in Michigan at age 15 and dreamed of being a feature writer. Instead, her knack for finding controversy under a rock made her a natural as an investigative reporter.
When she went into management, she struggled mightily and looked for a book telling her how to be effective as a strong woman in leadership. There wasn't one, so Fawn started working on her first book and began interviewing famous women trailblazers for the wisdom they earned the hard way. Initially, the book was rejected by every major publisher in the United States, but her perseverance paid off with a contract with Penguin. Her book was released the day before the September 11 attacks and her absolute determination pushed the book onto bestseller lists (and into Oprah's arms) at a time when other authors were giving up.
She inspires others to dare to succeed by taking risks and being their best selves. Fawn is one of the nation’s most sought after leadership speakers and the author of seven books including "Hard Won Wisdom," "Mustang Sallies," and "Pearls," which features the best quotes from all of her interviews. Fawn has keynoted around the world for Ford Motor Co., Kraft, Cisco, Coca-Cola, ADP, Xerox, Deloitte, PepsiCo, ConAgra, NASA, the CIA and many, many others. She has also spoken at the Harvard Business School's leadership conference and keynoted for the Wharton School of Business.
