Llewellyn King

For 50 years, journalist and broadcaster Llewellyn King has spread about his wit and wisdom, in print, on radio and television, and on the dais. And the originality of his views, and the conversational tone with which he delivers them, have been a treat for readers, viewers and listeners.

King, the host of “White House Chronicle” on PBS and a nationally syndicated columnist, began his career in journalism at the age of 16, as a foreign correspondent for Time magazine. From there, he went to London, where he worked for The Daily Mirror and the BBC; then on to New York, where he worked for The New York Herald Tribune; and finally to Washington, where he worked for The Washington Post, before founding and editing The Energy Daily, the flagship of his award-winning King Publishing Group of newsletters.

He writes and speaks expertly on a wide range of subjects, from energy and the environment, Washington and foreign affairs, science and technology to the media and personal growth. He always gives readers and listeners caviar to digest.

For five years, King hosted “The Bull & The Bear,” a cable television show on the stock market. He hosts “White House Chronicle,” a news and public affairs program, airing nationwide on PBS and public access television channels, and on XM Satellite Radio.

A sought-after commentator, King has appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press” and the “Today,” PBS’s “The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer,” Westwood One’s “The Jim Bohannon Show,” CNN, C-SPAN, BBC and Voice of America.

King has addressed top-level government and business organizations, including The World Energy Council, The Atlantic Council, The Western European Union, the Australian Parliament, the Texas state legislature, The Business Council, Lehman Brothers, Salomon Brothers, Westinghouse, General Electric, The Edison Electric Institute, Los Alamos, Sandia, Lawrence Livermore, among other national laboratories.

He has lectured at Stanford, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard, Yale and Georgetown. He received an honorary doctorate in engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.

Llewellyn King is the author of “Washington and the World: 2001-2005” (Rowman & Littlefield, 2006), a collection of his columns.
