Florence LaRue was an original member of a quintet called The Versatiles in 1965, which became The 5th Dimension in 1966 at the request of Johnny Rivers who had just signed them to his new label, Soul City. An amazing string of hits followed with "Up, Up and Away," "Wedding Bell Blues," "Stoned Soul Picnic," "One Less Bell" and the Grammy winning "Aquarius/Let The Sun Shine In." Florence LaRue continues to be a dynamic force within The 5th Dimension touring around the globe to sold-out audiences. A major portion of their performing itinerary includes concerts with the world's most prestigious symphonies each year and headlining Las Vegas and other major venues. Her solo acting work has included a critically acclaimed national tour of Broadway's Tony award winning musical, "Ain't Misbehavin" and starring in the successful Toronto production of "Mo Magic." Florence LaRue has always been an active believer in giving back to the community. Her many charitable endeavors include her efforts on behalf of abused children. Her love of children led Florence to earn her teaching credentials, all of the while keeping up with the demands of performing with the group. Florence LaRue has traveled with a medical/evangelism team to The Gambia, West Africa. Her humanitarian efforts led to her being named Woman of the Year by the City of Hope.
