Jay Lehr later ran a Trade and Professional Society of Environmental Scientists for 25 years after which he founded and sold two education companies to Fortune 500 Corporations. He has written 14 books and over 400 journal articles in his fields of expertise. His books published by McGraw-Hill in 2000 and 2001 respectively are his "Handbook of Environmental Science," "Health & Technology" and his "Handbook of Complex Environmental Remediation Problems." He is also the author of "Satellite Investigations of Ground Water Resources" and a four-volume "Encyclopedia of Water.Dr. Lehr is also well known for his athletic prowess. He has completed the Hawaiian Ironman Triathlon nine times. He rides a bicycle 8000 miles a year and plays amateur ice Hockey in Columbus, Ohio. He coaches a girls High School Lacrosse team in Columbus each spring and hold the worlds skydiving record for consecutive months jumped while residing in a cold climate (Ohio). His record extends for 24 years and still counting. Jay earned a degree in Geological Engineering from Princeton University. He began his career with the United States Geological Survey after serving in the U.S. Navy's Civil Engineering Corps in the Far East rising to the rank of Lt. Commander. He earned one of the nation's first Ph.D.s in Environmental Science from the University of Arizona where he stayed to teach before joining the faculty of The Ohio State University.
