Ronald Naples

Ronald "Ron" Naples is a consultant in hospitality, service, and meeting management. He and his wife own Maple Mountain Hospitality, Inc. which provides hospitality consulting and services. Ron and Beth owned and operated the FourWinds Country Motel in Manchester Center, Vermont from 1998 to 2002. Prior to his move to the Green Mountains of Vermont, Naples was Director of Business Development and Operations for the Millennium Conference Center and the Hudson Theatre at Millennium Broadway in New York City. There he was responsible for the 33 room Millennium Conference Center, 700 seat Hudson Theater, Restaurant Charlotte and the overall food and beverage department of this 627 room hotel complex.

Ron is a graduate of Montclair State University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Theater and Political Science. He attended Pace University in New York City to pursue his Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Human Resources Management.

He began his career as a teacher of English and Drama. He then moved to Viacom International Inc. where he managed the Conference Center and Special Events department for seven years. Then it was onto Hamilton Park, an executive conference center, where he was the opening Director of Conference Services. In 1989,- Naples went to Smith Barney via Shearson Lehman Hutton and other corporate name changes where he was hired to open and manage their non-residential conference center and SaddleRidge, a 27 room exclusive resort in Beaver Creek, Colorado. With support from senior management he was able to develop a department set-up for the purpose of supporting Training , Meetings and Events. Within seven years he saw four promotions and left as First Vice-President of Conference Services. He was responsible for the Smith Barney corporate conference center in New York, the Travelers Education Center in Hartford, CT, the corporate audio-visual department, and corporate food and beverage. His department planned over 4500 meetings and events annually.

Ron Naples has been named one of the 25 most influential people in the meetings industry by Meeting News Magazine. He received the Award for Teaching Excellence from New York University in February 2000 designating him a distinguished teacher in the field of Meeting Management and Hospitality. The International Association of Conference Centers awarded Ron their prestigious Pyramid Award in April 2000 for his contributions to their educational programming. Naples is an adjunct professor at New York University's Tisch Center for Hospitality, Travel and Tourism and teaches in the Cornell University Professional Development Program.

He frequently addresses national groups on trends in services for the hospitality, training and meetings industry. He is a member of the International Association of Conference Centers, Meeting Professionals International Greater New York Chapter, American Society of Training and Development, Vermont Lodging and Restaurant Association, and serves on the Board of Directors of various organizations.
