Dean Ornish is president and director of the nonprofit institute. He is Director of the Integrative Medicine Center at the School of Medicine, University of California, San Francisco. Ornish is also an attending physician at California Pacific Medical Center. Dr. Ornish was awarded the 1996 Beckmann Medal from the German Society for the Prevention and Rehabilitation of Cardiovascular Diseases and the 1994 Outstanding Young Alumnus Award from The University of Texas, Austin. He is the author of several best selling books, including New York Times bestsellers "Dr. Dean Ornish's Program for Reversing Heart Disease," and "Eat More Weigh Less," "Everyday Cooking with Dr. Dean Ornish" and "Love and Survival: The Scientific Basis for the Healing Power of Intimacy." Dr. Dean Ornish was a physician consultant to former President Clinton and has been consulting with The White House chefs on making foods served there more healthful and nutritious.
