Lyn St. James completed her first Indy 500 at the age of 45 and became just the second woman in history to race in the event. Some doubted that a woman could keep up with male drivers, and St. James struggled to get the sponsorship she needed to race. Lyn St. James took eleventh place, and became the first woman to be selected Indy 500 Rookie of the Year. Fueled by inspiration and limitless motivation, Lyn managed to rise through the ranks and eventually become known as the American Woman Racing Icon of the Century. As a speaker, Lyn St. James is undoubtedly a testament to the power of determination and positive thinking. She is the author of "Ride of Your Life - A Race Car Driver's Journey." Her racing record includes: 7 Indianapolis 500 starts in nine years, including six consecutive starts, qualified sixth for 1994 Indy 500, set the world record on closed-course for women reaching 225.722 mph during the 1995 Indy 500 qualification weekend, held 31 international and national closed circuit speed records over a 20-year period, raced twice in the Biggest Endurance race in the World; The 24 Hours of Le Mans (France), had 2 wins in The 24 Hours of Daytona (winning GTO Team Driver in `87 & `90), only woman to have ever won an IMSA GT race driving solo, etc. St. James was selected by "Sports Illustrated for Women" as one of the Top-100 Women Athletes of the Century, and by "Working Woman Magazine" as one of "The 350 Women who changed the world between 1976-1996".
