Professor of Economics at the University of Arizona, Gerald Swanson, Ph.D., is a widely sought-after economic consultant/speaker whose clients include the U.S. Federal Government and Fortune 500 corporations.

He headed a research team that traveled to 11 countries to study consequences of unchecked government spending. His research became the highly publicized book (with 9+ months on The New York Times & The London Times bestseller list), "Bankruptcy 1995: The Coming Collapse of America and How to Stop It", co-authored with Harry E. Figgie, Jr. He has also written other books, including "America the Broke: How the Reckless Spending of The White House and Congress are Bankrupting Our Country and Destroying Our Children's Future" and "The Hyperinflation Survival Guide: Strategies for American Businesses."

Swanson is president of the Academy for Economic Education, a nonprofit organization that trains economic educators. Gerald has appeared on numerous T.V. shows including Larry King Live, The Today Show, and CNN's Moneyline. He is widely sought out as a consultant and speaker, and his clients include the U.S. Federal Government, the Arizona Legislature, and several Fortune 500 companies. His travels have taken him to 32 countries, where he has interviewed bankers, stock brokers, political figures, industrialists, and financial analysts. Dr. Swanson co-authored "The Business of Crime: The Criminal Perspective" and developed companion guides for a popular Walt Disney economic film series.

Professor Gerald Swanson taught one of Czechoslovakia's first market economics courses to Czech and Slovak professors of economics; developed the teacher's training series, The Economic Exchange, for National Public Television. Regarded as one of the most successful teachers at The University of Arizona, Dr. Gerald Swanson has received numerous awards, including Outstanding Teacher of the Year, multiple awards from the Eller College of Management for Undergraduate Teacher of the Year, Five-Star Faculty Award and Professor of the Year Award from the National Federation of Independent Business. Swanson was named the Thomas R. Brown Chair in Economic Education, which will be renamed in his honor upon his retirement. Gerald received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois.
