Grand Canyon, Arizona This is a short video of our trip to the Grand Canyon. Be sure to watch the fun out takes at the end.
This was a trip taken at the end of May to the Grand Canyon in Arizona. On Friday, we drove from Tucson to Sedona where we had lunch, had a business meeting, and then met with relatives. That afternoon, we drove to Flagstaff, AZ. In Flagstaff, we stayed at the InnSuites, which was very nice. It includes a very good breakfast and it was conveniently located. When visiting the Grand Canyon, you have several choices where to stay. We would recommend you pick either Flagstaff, the hotel or lodge in the Grand Canyon, or stay just outside the Grand Canyon entrance in the town of Tusayan, AZ. There are two ways to drive from Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon. The first is to take Highway 180, located in the center of Flagstaff, and head north. The second is to head west on Interstate 40 to Williams, AZ which is about a 40 mile drive. You then go north on Route 64, which eventually intersects with Highway 180. Because there is almost no difference in length, we chose to go to Williams first. It is a route that we have never taken before and we wanted to see what it looked like. It was a very scenic drive. The entrance fee for the Grand Canyon is $25. If you are a senior, purchase a Senior Pass. It is only $10 and is good at all National Parks and most state parks. Better yet, the pass is good for a lifetime. You will need to show your ID in order to prove it is your pass. Having graduated from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Andrea has hiked many of the trails in the Grand Canyon. She loves to talk about the different trails and points in the canyon and her many experiences there. On our return, we drove to the extreme east end of the canyon and took route 64 south to Cameron. We stopped at the trading post there, which was huge. They have the widest collection of Native American art and collectable that we have ever seen, and they have a great bathroom for those in need. We then drove south on Highway 89, past Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument. They no longer allow you to climb the crater, which Andrea did while in college. We hoped you enjoyed this short video of our trip to the Grand Canyon.
